This policy explains what personal information SnagFinch (snagfinch.com, "we") collects, why, and what choices you have. If you have a question, email hello@snagfinch.com.
What we collect
- Newsletter: your email address and the country you chose, if you subscribe.
- Contact form: your name, email address, subject and message.
- Submitted codes: the store, offer details and, if you give it, your email address.
- Clicks on offers: which offer or product you clicked, the store, the country, the time, the page you came from, and a scrambled version of your IP address. The IP address is combined with a secret key and hashed, so we never store the address itself.
- "Did it work?" votes: we keep only the yes/no totals. Your browser session remembers that you voted so you aren't asked again.
We don't ask for your name or address to use the site, and you don't need an account.
Cookies
SnagFinch sets only the cookies it needs to work:
- Session and security cookies keep the site working and protect forms from misuse. They expire two hours after your last visit.
- A "country" cookie remembers the country you last viewed, for one year, so we can show you the right offers.
We don't currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If we add them, we'll ask for your consent first.
When you click through to a store, that store or its affiliate network may set its own cookies on its site to record that you came from SnagFinch. Those cookies are covered by the store's and network's own privacy policies.
Why we use your information
- To send the newsletter you asked for (your consent; you can withdraw it at any time).
- To reply to messages and review submitted codes (our legitimate interest in running the site and helping you).
- To count clicks, prevent fraud and see which offers are useful (our legitimate interest in running and improving the site).
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. Our website and database are hosted by Namecheap, whose servers may be in the United States. When you click some offers, we send the affiliate network a random reference number for the click so it can report sales to us; that number doesn't identify you. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Click records: 24 months, then deleted automatically.
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
- Messages and submitted codes: until we no longer need them to handle your request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the UK and EU, you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. To unsubscribe from the newsletter or make any request, email hello@snagfinch.com. In the UK you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). If you're in California or another US state with a privacy law, we don't sell or share your personal information as those laws define it.
Children
SnagFinch isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
